Our Topic Learning
Our current topic is 'Where in the World'. We will be learning about where we live and contrasting our locality with other places in our world. We will be hinging our topic on 2 key texts 'Lost and Found' which is set in The North Pole and 'Bringing the rain to Kapiti Plain' which is set in Africa. The contrasts of the 2 books will allow us to think about the main differences between hot and cold countries. Our 'stunning start' visit to The Eden Project allowed us to observe our current climate, the coldness of the ice rink, the warmness of the Mediterranean and the heat in the rainforest - what an amazing experience!
Our Learning this week
We have had an exciting new arrival in Class 1 this week - a lost penguin! We have enjoyed asking questions about the penguin and finding out more about him as well as making links between his arrival and our new class book 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers. We will be basing our writing on this text for the next 2 weeks while we continue to learn about penguins and the polar regions. The children have continued to learn about 3d shape in maths and we have been amazed by their knowledge. The progress that they have shown in this area of learning has been amazing and we are very proud of them all.
We hope that you all have a restful weekend with lots of fun too and we look forward to seeing everybody on Monday morning :-) Mrs Robins and Mrs Murray
