Our topic this
half term is

Growing
–
We will continue
to explore a
play-based
curriculum where
the children
have the
opportunity to
follow
child-initiated
learning
opportunities
and adult-led
tasks |

Communication, Language and Literacy
|
|
Children will
experience
speaking,
listening,
reading and
writing on a
daily basis to
continue to
foster
confidence and a
love of
literacy!
All children
will continue
their phonics
learning with
sound and word
cards continuing
to come home at
the necessary
intervals –
please take a
few moments
every day to
practise these. |

Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy |
|
Children will
further develop
their
understanding of
numbers and the
number system
through
practical
activities with
opportunities to
apply what they
know. We will
look at
counting, using
numbers in
everyday life
and
understanding
addition and
subtraction.
Children will
recognise coins
and Year 1 and 2
will use these
to make
different
totals. We will
be looking at
measures –
finding the mass
of different
objects and
using correct
vocabulary for
comparison.
Shapes names
will be learnt
and used to make
both pictures
and repeating
patterns.
